Handling Precautions
To ensure the safe use of KYOWAGLAS-XA™, be sure to read the Material Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before handling.
KYOWAGLAS-XA™ is a methacrylic resin containing metal. The properties are thermoplastic, flammable, and partially soluble in organic solvents. Please observe the following precautions when handling the product.
About Fires
- This product is a flammable thermoplastic resin.
- The ignition temperature is about 400°C, and the product will burn if it comes in contact with an open flame or a high heat source.
- Avoid inhalation of toxic gases such as carbon monoxide, etc., which may be generated if burned.
- Foam, powder, and carbon dioxide fire extinguishers can be used to extinguish fires.
Safety
- Wear protective gloves, eye protection, and other protective equipment when handling.
- Please be aware that the sharp edges may cause cuts or abrasions if damaged.
Handling
- KYOWAGLAS-XA™ is deformed when heated to 70°C or higher, so it should be used and stored in an environment of 50°C or lower.
- KYOWAGLAS-XA™ is covered on both sides with protective paper to protect the surface. To prevent scratches and dust from adhering to the surface, we recommend that you handle the product with the protective paper still attached and remove it at the end. Wear protective equipment (gloves, safety glasses, etc.) to protect your hands and the surface of KYOWAGLAS-XA™ when working with it.
- Wipe off any dust, dirt, etc. adhering to KYOWAGLAS-XA™ with a soft cloth moistened with a 1% solution of a mild detergent or water.
- The surface of KYOWAGLAS-XA™ may be affected by solvents or paints, causing cloudiness and micro cracks.
- KYOWAGLAS-XA™ H-35, H-46, and H-70 will darken in color over time, but this will not affect their X-ray shielding performance.
Storage
- Store indoors out of direct sunlight and away from high temperatures and humidity.
- Keep away from ignition sources and be careful not to get wet. Also, please note that the product may deform due to sudden temperature changes.
- To prevent deformation during storage, when placing horizontally, always make sure that the dimensions are larger at the bottom and that the loading height is 500 mm or less.
Disposal
This product contains lead. When disposing of the product, please dispose of it properly by entrusting it to an authorized industrial waste disposal contractor or local public body, in accordance with laws, regulations, and local ordinances.
