Processing Method and Precautions for Use

PARAGLAS™ and COMOGLAS™ are thermoplastic resins with excellent processability. With simple tools and equipment, cutting, drilling, and other machining, forming, and bonding processes can be performed.

  • Machining
Straight and curved line cutting with circular saw, band saw, thread saw, router, etc., drilling and engraving with drill and engraving machine, etc.

  • Bonding process
Solvent adhesion is easy. Adhesive materials include solvent, solution, and polymerized types.
Temperature RangeThe maximum continuous use temperature is 80°C for PARAGLAS™ and 65°C for COMOGLAS™.
It is also highly cold tolerant and can withstand temperatures as low as -40°C.
ScratchSurface hardness is comparable to aluminum.
Shallow scratches can be refinished by polishing.
ExpansionElongation and contraction are caused by temperature change. 1 m in length will expand and contract by 0.7 to 0.8 mm when the temperature changes by 10°C.
Since it also expands and contracts due to moisture absorption and drying, it is necessary to check the clearance when installing the product.
SolventSome types of solvents cause fine surface cracks.
Do not store in a location where it will be exposed to solvent vapors.
CombustionFlammability is comparable to wood. Fire can be extinguished by general fire extinguishing methods.
Dust RemovalLike other plastics, it is prone to static electricity and dust.
To remove dust, wipe with a soft cloth moistened with a 1% solution of neutral detergent.

Storage Precautions

When placed upright, the sheet should be inclined at an angle of approximately 10° so that the entire sheet is close together and leaning against each other. In this case, the total thickness of the sheets should not exceed 30 cm in total. In the case of horizontal placement, always make sure that the lower items are of larger dimensions and that the height of the pile is no more than 50 cm. Stack them as close to the same dimensions as possible.

Handling Precautions

  • About Fires
PARAGLAS™ and COMOGLAS™ are combustible thermoplastic resins. Please be careful to avoid fire, as the product will burn if it comes into contact with or comes into contact with fire or high temperature sources. Avoid breathing smoke as combustion gases contain carbon monoxide. Fire extinguishing can be done by general fire extinguishing methods.

  • Safety
Impact strength depends on the thickness of the sheet, so please select the sheet thickness according to the application. Handle with care as cut corners may cause injuries (abrasions, cuts). Contact with solvents may cause whitening or cracking. To clean the surface, use a 1% solution of neutral detergent or water.

  • Working Environment
Store in a location away from direct sunlight, away from sources of ignition, free from sudden temperature changes, water leakage, and high temperatures.

  • Disposal
Dispose of waste in accordance with applicable local laws and regulations.
