KURALPHA™ AX grade (special high heat-resistant acrylic resin)

Special high heat-resistant acrylic resin KURALPHA™ AX grade

KURALPHA™ AX grades are special high heat-resistant acrylic resins manufactured using Kuraray's proprietary polymer synthesis technology. The material has a high heat resistance temperature (Tg over 140°C) comparable to that of polycarbonate resin, yet can be used outdoors and is easy to injection-mold. Its high rigidity, with a flexural modulus of 4,000 MPa, makes it easy to maintain the shape of parts.

Transparent material with high heat resistance temperature and discoloration resistance comparable to acrylic resin

KURALPHA™ AX grade is an acrylic resin with a heat resistance temperature equivalent to that of polycarbonate resin. This material is suitable for lens applications that require both high heat resistance and UV resistance.

Injection molding is possible and can be designed into various shapes

KURALPHA™ AX grades are thermoplastics that can be injection molded. It has the feature of maintaining transparency even when compounded with general-purpose PMMA, so it is possible to customize the moldability and other physical properties according to customer requirements.

Can also be used for resin modification applications

KURALPHA™ AX grades can also be used for modifying resins by compounding. Compatibility with general-purpose PMMA allows for improved heat resistance temperatures while maintaining transparency. It can also be used for heat-resistant modification of ABS and ASA.
