Paintless Exterior Design of the Future
The trend to review the coating process of products is accelerating toward the realization of a sustainable society. The paint-less system not only contributes to the reduction of CO₂ emissions and waste, but also simplifies the process and improves design flexibility. Kuraray responded to this need by proposing two solutions: PARAPET™ GR grade and Acrylic/ABS Multilayer Sheet. The former offers a variety of colors and high scratch resistance, while the latter combines lightweight and Weatherability as a metal substitute, providing a new option for next-generation manufacturing.
PARAPET™ GR Grade: Paintless Design with Color and Strength
We want to eliminate the painting process. But I don't want to compromise on color or texture. PARAPET™ GR grade is the answer to such needs. Available in colors other than piano black, the new product realizes a high level of design even without paint. Furthermore, the formula is more scratch-resistant than conventional products, making it safe to use for exterior parts. It is truly a "delightful" material that simultaneously reduces environmental impact by reducing the number of painting processes, and improves the degree of freedom of design.

This material is not just paintless. Especially with in-vehicle parts, you need both good looks and durability. Not only can GR grade produce a wide variety of colors in its original application, but it also has excellent scratch resistance, so it can maintain its high-grade appearance without painting. The elimination of the painting process has significant cost and environmental benefits. It is truly the perfect material for the next generation of design components.
What is PMMA Resin?
PMMA stands for polymethyl methacrylate, also known as acrylic glass. This transparent thermoplastic is known for its optical clarity, Weatherability, and dimensional stability. PMMA is very versatile and is used not only in the automotive field, but also in architectural, advertising display, and optical applications. PMMA is biocompatible and nontoxic to living organisms, making it suitable for medical applications. PMMA is produced by polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA).
ISCC PLUS Certified Quality and Safety
PARAPET™ is produced at Kuraray's ISCC PLUS-certified Niigata Plant. ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is an internationally recognized sustainability certification that certifies the traceable use of sustainable raw materials throughout the value chain.
PARAPET™ GR Grade: Paintless Material Ideal for Automotive Parts
- A wide variety of colors: White, yellow, and other colors can be used in the original application, achieving high design quality even without painting.
- High scratch resistance: Scratch-resistant and can be used safely for exterior parts
- Recycled material compatible: Maintains appearance performance even when mixed with end materials, contributing to environmental friendliness
- Excellent formability: Spiral flow test for high flowability and complex shapes
- High Weatherability: Maintains color and texture even after prolonged exposure testing, ideal for outdoor applications
Acrylic/ABS Multilayer Sheet : Lightweight, Strong, and Paintless
Outdoor applications require Weatherability, strength, and beauty. Acrylic/ABS Multilayer Sheet is a multi-layered sheet that combines all of these features. Moldability and impact resistance derived from ABS are realized while maintaining a beautiful matte appearance. It also contributes to the reduction of environmental impact because the painting process can be eliminated. As a new option for "glamour without paint," it greatly expands the degree of freedom in designing exterior components.

It is as strong as metal and does not require painting. Wouldn't it be nice if such a material existed? This material has excellent Weatherability and impact resistance, and can be molded with its beautiful matte appearance intact. The painting process can be eliminated, reducing both cost and environmental impact. It is truly a material that achieves the best balance of metal and paint alternative.
Acrylic/ABS Multilayer Sheet : The Power of Multi-Layered Sheets with an Attractive Matte Finish
Acrylic/ABS Multilayer Sheet is a multi-layered sheet that combines the formability and impact resistance of ABS with a beautiful matte appearance. Capable of large molding with a maximum width of 1450 mm, ideal for outdoor applications and exterior parts. This paint-free material combines color, texture, and strength to expand design freedom and further enhance the appeal of products.
